Weeks 35 and 36 – 28th March to the 8th April

You will have noted that I have not posted for at least 4 weeks. This is because I have just been too busy on site finishing the Barn – Oak Balcony, Kitchen, Landscaping etc –  and by the time I got home, which was never before 7.30pm, I was too exhausted to lift the lid of the laptop. I was fit for only a hot shower followed by a large glass of Red Wine.

So I can catch up the next couple of posts will include many photos but few words. The pictures, especially of the Oak Balcony,  speak for themselves.

The last 4 weeks have been manic with a lot of trades on site finishing the barn and outside space. Then came the snagging which I did most of as it included brushing down the oak beams and brickwork which is horrible work that nobody wants to do.

The final post in this series will show the finished barn and include all the Estate Agent photos and a link to the Sales Particulars on Rightmove.

Kitchen and Utility

The Kitchen units were obtained via Kitchen Generator of Ashford. Kitchen Generator manufacture the carcases and marry these up with the doors/drawers etc which are supplied by PWS. The delivered product is ready for installation.

We purchased the Second Nature Remo Painted kitchen, Cashmere units for the Hob and Oven runs and Graphite for the Island. The Mirrored Quartz work surface with mitred corners came from PWS Work surfaces.

Oak Balcony

The Oak for the Oak Balcony was purchased from Roundwood Timber of Mayfield. Andrew Feaver sent them the design with dimensions and they cut all the sections in their workshop to provide a kit which Andy could assemble the Oak Balcony on site.

These pictures show how Andy went about the process of constructing the Oak Balcony.

The final picture show KB Glass installing the toughened glass Balustrade inbetween to posts on the Oak Balcony.

Parking Area

I employed Orchard Drives to prepare and install the Tarmac and Gravel drive/parking area. We needed over 20 ton of MOT type 1 to level and grade the area prior to 50mm of tarmac being laid. 5mm grit was then cast over the area.
